Missiles Fired At Russian Plane

On monday morning unidentified forces launched two ground to air missiles near a Russian civilian airplane over Syria. The missiles did not hit the plan but exploded very close to the plane. No one was harmed in the explosion because the pilots maneuvered their way around the missiles. It was said that they detected battle action that could have caused harm to the 159 passengers on board. On Tuesday a source was informed of the plan was flying at 9800 meters when it was attacked. The first missile exploded at 9200 and the second at 8900, and immediately after the incident the plane was given permission to fly almost 1000 meters higher. Russian experts believe that there are no reasons to claim that the aircraft was a target. But other experts are suspicious of the maneuvering the pilots claimed to have done. Plans are usually attacked from the side or from above, that way a pilot could not see an attack. The plane couldn't have seen what was behind it, and the missile was moving at twice as fast the plane, making it impossible to have a reaction to do anything. It is suspected that this attack came from rebel forces.

Family Shot

On Wednesday around 4:30 Rick Smith gunned down a home. He shot and killed a 65 year old grandmother, 3 boys between the ages of 5 and 1, and a couple around the ages of 25. Rick went on a rampage throughout this home leaving only one survivor, a 6 year old girl. She was in critical condition when he carried the girl over to the neighbors home. He left her there and took off, only to be caught hours later. Rick was caught up with  around 7:30 and began to shoot at police. He was then shot and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital around 10:10.  Police were unable to explain the possible motive Rick had to gun down this small home in Manchester. The police were completely puzzled when they had learned that he had carried the injured girl to the neighbors home; he had killed her whole family. Of course no one could completely explain the incident. A family member of Rick's said that he was going through a rough divorce and custody battle with his 4 year old child. The 6 year old survivor is recovering and will be put into a home of another family member.

The National Cancer Institute estimates that over 76,000 people will be diagnosed with melanoma this year and 9,480 people will die from it. The largest risk factor of melanoma is exposure to UV rays either from sunlight or artificial sources such as tanning beds. 15.45 of former melanoma patients said they hardly, if ever sat in the shade and 2.1% had been to a tanning salon in the last year and several patients admitted to not sueing any sunscreen or other forms of protection. The young girl was reportedly to have broken her hand at a softball practice earlier in the week. This meant that should no longer help with the family chores. Her coach had begin to grow suspicious of her disappearance, and one night had a dream of the young girl being shot in the families back yard. The coach said the dream felt so real that he had to call the police. The coach told them that he felt very confident in his psychic dream that they should go to the house and check it out. Fortunately, the police were not busy and decided to follow the lead. When they searched the area they found the couple trying to bury the girl and the evidence. The parents were taken into custody and the softball coach serves to be a hero. His story had gotten out into the world and now is starting a new talk show. On the show he sleeps for the first hour and when he wakes he shares his compelling dreams with the world.

REUTERS/Duncan Scott/The News-Herald/Pool. J.T. Lane was sentenced to life on Tuesday. In Ohio on February of 2012, he went on a school shooting rampage, killing thee students and wounding three others. On February he plead guilty to the charges brought against him and at the time he was tried as an adult but because he was 17 he was not eligible for the death penalty. On Tuesday he showed up in a light blue button up, and then later shed the button up, revealing a white t-shirt that had "killer" scrawled on the front. The judge in the case said, "He lacked remorse and examinations showed he has feigned mental illness. A bright student set to graduate from high school early, Lane instead planned, prepared for, and then executed the attack." The judge also commented that thee court had not noticed the shirt he was wearing and if he had, the proceedings would have stopped immediately and he would have been forced to put on proper attire. This was one of many incidences that happened in February that has sparked up a proposal for a ban on military style assault weapons and limits on the capacity of magazines.

Lost Continent Found in Indian Ocean

Lion Mountain, in southeast Mauritius.Located 1200 miles east off the coast of Africa lies a tourist destination known as Mauritius. The island was formed more than 9 million years ago from cooling lava. But recently grains of sand were found that are between 660 million to 2 billion years old. Scientist believe that these grains came from an island that has now disappeared, they also believe that islands like Mauritius hold lots of evidence of old land forms. They believe that as this island was forming, a land form above it was drowning. As they collided, the old island left a bit of it's mark on the new island.  Although there is not enough evidence to support this claim, they are still doing more research. This discovery is a bit disturbing because we know more about the geography of mars than our own oceans.

British House of Commons Passes Gay Marriage

On Tuesday The House of Commons voted to legalize gay marriage. But the Prime Minister has a small setback, more than half of the lawmakers in the Conservative Party voted against the law. After a six hour debate, it passed with 400 to 175. It will more than likely to pass the House of Lords. It's been a long time since a Prime Minister has had to make such hefty decisions. Opponents of the legislation argued that it ruins tradition, and others say it can help modernize the country. The legislation applies to England and Wales and will permit marriage between gays but does not excuse the Church of England to preform these ceremonies. But the divisions over same-sex marriage have been less heated than in France.

Bu suspicions are that Al Qaeda is behind the attack, but Turkish medias report that the authorities have already identified the attacker who was said to not be an Islamic extremist but instead a Marxist extremist group. All though the Embassy is heavily protected, the  bomb exploded inside the security checkpoint at the side entrance. Anti-Abortion Lawmakers Take on Planed Parenthood

The billion dollar charity is working on protecting it's image has it take some heavy fire from critics. The critics say that the nation's largest abortion provider is a rogue organization that misuses federal money. Two congress men form Tennessee say the money goes all to the abortions. $542 million came from the government ans went to Planed Parenthood. The president of Planned Parenthood says that if bills are passed to cut the money they receive would harm those who rely on the nonprofit for healthcare. The whole issue is being fueled by the fact that it is the nation's largest abortion provider but it's also a major source of health care for women. The nonprofit organization preformed about about 334,00 abortions in it's 750 clinics nationwide. they also provided 10.8 million healthcare services in 2011. A third of those went to contraception, 41% were for sexually transmitted infection tests, and 3% were abortions.  And this week this week the charity is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision on abortion. A poll from laster says that 51% say pro-life and 41% say pro choice.

Talk About Heads Rolling.

Yesterday at O'Hare International Airport 18 heads were found in a crate that was discovered through routine x-ray scans. The heads were used in Italy for medical testing and were sent to Illinois to be cremated.  Apparently having body parts in crates is not an unusual thing at airports.  "Just last we transported eight heads to Rush University Medical center for an ophthalmology program," said Paul Dudek. Paul is the vice president of the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois, that supplies body parts to medical students in the state for students. He also said that last week they sent a large shipment of rains to the University of Texas in Austin via UPS. They send 450 whole corpses to medical students each year either by air or more regularly by delivery trucks. A lot of questions were raised about why the hold up, where the shipment came from, where it was headed and why. But it was all cleared up and the hold up was due to the mix up of paper work. These crates and transfers require tons of paper work because there is a black market for these shipments.

Giant Squid Footage

VIDEO: Giant Squid Caught on TapeFor the first time researchers have caught a giant squid in it's natural habitat on video. It was discovered by one of the 100  Discovery  Channels dives in the Pacific last summer and it can be seen on its next air on January 27. The 9 foot invertebrate was found in the east waters of the Chichi Islands, 600 miles south of Tokyo. From the footage scientists found that the squid was missing the it's two longest tentacles. Not much is known about these creatures because they live on the ocean floor, and we are still unable to get down there for long periods of time. At 2,100 feet underneath the water surface the submarine that dove down left bait for whatever would come get it. And then suddenly the giant squid came out of the darkness, wrapped its long tentacles around the bait. It stayed still, feeding, for 20 minutes and then disappeared.
