Giant Squid Footage

VIDEO: Giant Squid Caught on TapeFor the first time researchers have caught a giant squid in it's natural habitat on video. It was discovered by one of the 100  Discovery  Channels dives in the Pacific last summer and it can be seen on its next air on January 27. The 9 foot invertebrate was found in the east waters of the Chichi Islands, 600 miles south of Tokyo. From the footage scientists found that the squid was missing the it's two longest tentacles. Not much is known about these creatures because they live on the ocean floor, and we are still unable to get down there for long periods of time. At 2,100 feet underneath the water surface the submarine that dove down left bait for whatever would come get it. And then suddenly the giant squid came out of the darkness, wrapped its long tentacles around the bait. It stayed still, feeding, for 20 minutes and then disappeared.
