2013 Like Any other Year.

I don't really believe anything all that bad will happen in 2013. But as many great empires in the past have fallen, we too soon will fall. no one can predict the end of the world but maybe bad things will begin to happen and that could be the start of our end. The sun has billions of years to live still, so i don't believe that we will die on Friday or anytime soon after that. I think that what will be the end of us is the fall of our government, but not for a long time. Maybe something like the Great Depression but ten times worst and it'd hit everyone. The whole country would die into chaos and we'd have to start all over. In 2013 i don;t believe anything disastrous will happen, maybe the republic side will win on this new reform we're trying to do.

Weight Loss? There's an App for That.

Now a days people have thousands of apps, suited for their everyday needs. There's an App for everything, anything from trying to find the cheapest gas station around to finding the best sex position for your life style. the possibilities are endless and new Apps come out each day, more advanced and more popular. Now there's an App for weight loss. In a random study, people lost more weight with a digital personal trainer and a weight loss program. People in this program got motivational phone calls every 2 weeks. They had another group of people in a random study losing weight with out the App. In this  year long trial they gave the people a goal of losing 5%-10% of their weight. The difference between the groups was in the first 3 months, the technology group lost 4.4 kilograms and the other team lost .84 kilograms. As time went on the technology group lost a much larger weight than the other. Some day, we will have Apps that will control everything!

Egyptian Protest Continues.

In Cairo 11 privately owned news papers have stopped publishing in an effort to stop the limitations on their freedom. Also several television shows say they will not be broadcasting tomorrow.  This is just a few of the dramatic measures the Egyptians have resulted to. The President of Egypt is looks for power over any judge's view and claims that he needs these powers to overcome obstructed judges, but really wants to prevent the country turning into a democracy. There have been several investigations on the President looking to take down a branch of their government that controls the protection of the press.  A meeting was scheduled to be held to discuss the legitimacy of the Presidents expansion of his powers, but it was postponed.

Tragedy Has Struck Home

BUS29N_6_WEBIn Long Island a & year old boy watched he's younger brother David, get completely wrecked by a bus that basically fell on the boy's bedroom. The bus was trying to avoid a clueless jaywalker, and after honking the horn for several minutes, the bus hit the walker, swerved  and jumped the curb. Therefor it ended up plowing into the boy's shared room. The boy told police that "the bus fell on top of him, and then he fell and got squished. I wish there was no such thing as a bus, then he would be alive and he would live forever." When the bus crashed into the room, that side of the house collapsed and the stepfather had to hammer his way through the ruble to help. He saw that David was far from reach and no longer could be helped. David was pronounced said and hour after the accident. Police concluded that the bus driver will face no charges and the investigation on the jaywalker is on going. It is not said for sure if alcohol is a factor in this situation.

You'll Die if You Don't Vote

On Tuesday a pregnant 26 year old women decided to run over her husband because he didn't vote in the Presidential Election. She chased him around a parking lot, cornered him, pinned him under the car and pressed the gas. He now is in the hospital with permanent disfigurement injuries. When she was arrested she told the police that she was just trying to scare him, but accidentally hit the accelerator. She was worried about Obama being reelected because her family was going to struggle. She's being held on a 500 thousand bond. The family is going to struggle a lot more now, you know with the mom in jail and dad's in the hospital with a fractured pelvis. What is this world coming too?

Athena the Storm

As Athena is the well known Greek Goddess of courage, civilization and wisdom. But now her name is now taken a new turn. The weather channel has started naming storms this year. They name the after storm of hurricane Sandy, Athena. The Storm Prediction Center has said there is going to be very heavy snow falling at a heft rate of one inch per hour. That's a lot of snow. Temperatures will be below 30, which won't be so bad for all those people who have already no power, they're used to a cold house by now. But with heavy snow comes with the collapse of tree branches and power lines, with winds gusts up to 40 mph. The whole shore line has already taken a beating. And now they just need to survive the incoming heavy rain, overnight snowfall and gusts of wind up to 65 mph. It's going to be another rough haul.

It's the Climb

31 year old Zach Vawter lost his leg in a motorcycle accident in 2009. So he decided to sign up for a research subject helping to test a prosthetic leg that can be controlled by his thoughts, just like a regular leg would. Zach will put this bionic leg to the test by walking 103 flights of stairs to the top of one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world, Chicago's Willis Tower. His leg should function with the mere thought of "climb stairs." Researchers have been perfecting the leg.  One day they attached 11 electrodes on Zachs thigh and as the electrodes fed data to the bionic leg he could kick a soccer ball, and climb stairs. He'll  have many spectators cheering him on the climb. Because the number of hands and arms lost are higher than the loss of lower limbs thought controlled arms and hands have already been made. This 8 million dollar project has been funded by the US Department of Defense, and many other universities. In the next 10 years this product with be on the market, and several other advancements in technology will be made to bring more ideas and dreams like this to come true.

Whales Talkin Our Talk

Beluga whaleThere are several intelligent animals among the the human race. Animals like pigs, dolphins, dogs and many others but I don't think that the Beluga Whale can even compare to these animals. Researchers have recently discovered a 9 year ole whale speaking in octave that are like the octaves that humans speak in. Eventually researchers trained this Beluga to make these sounds on command  There have been several times where there have been claims of hearing these noises but this has been the first time its been recorded (go to link below). As the whale continued to make these human like sounds they figured out that to make the noises the whale changed the pressure in his nasal cavity very quickly. Along with some other very hard muscle contractions, changing the his lung pressure, and manipulating his own speech mechanics, its obvious this is no easy task for the whale. This whale has been learning these human sounds simply by listening and mimicking. Thats extremely fascinating and remarkable.

Pakistani Teenage Girl Nearly Killed, Made Hero.

PHOTO: Malala Yousufzai, 12, is seen at her home in the Swat Valley, March 26, 2009, in Peshawar, Pakistan. Many years ago our country made the decision to give women an equal chance to have an education like men. But in other places around the world women are still having to fight for this right. As the years go on the girls who fight for this right get younger and younger. In Pakistan a 14 year old girl was shot in the head and neck on a school bus by the Taliban for fighting for the right to get a good education. She will undergo several MRI's and other procedures before they had the actual surgery. All of her hospital bills are being taken care of by the Pakistani Government. Many people there consider her a "battle victim" in these terrorist wars even though she has taken a very small contribute. The former British Prime Minister stated that he was going to start a petition to get proper education to women.

But just one year before his football career started he had a pro wrestling contract signed. Aa his football season began to take shape, word had spread that he was placing bets on the NFL games and was then suspended for one season in 1963. During this time he went back to wrestling just for a short while. He played football till he was 35 and along those years he had gone through many head coaches and many controverses. And then in 1968 his fill and tv career began. He was in a many movies and made several appearances on The Tonight Show. The New pet. A Dinosaur.

A sculpture of a fanged dinosaur as it appeared in life. This little guy isn't necessarily new news, it's remains were found about 50 years ago. But in the resent years of advancing technology we have been able to learn new things about what it really looked like, when it thrived and other details.Taking a glance at the picture above would show that it has porcupine like quills, a small mouth almost like a beak and fangs. Research shows that this species would have lived on the forested rivers in south Africa. After  Sereno, a paleontologist, has time to study he said that the fangs resembled those mammals of todays meat and plant eating mammals who would use them to attract and fight for mates, along with self-defense. This little dinosaur was a little ahead of its time not only because of the fangs but because of his jaw structure and molar like teeth. This dinosaur was no bigger than a household cat, so if you really wanted to you could keep this little dino as a pet and train it to not chew off any of your limbs.

Oh Now They Realize. But Not Really.

SPANK26N_3_WEBIn the district of Springtown, Texas they have decided to change the policy in corporal punishment. After all over these years, they now decide that it's not okay for children to be hit. In this case a sophomore girl had the choice to be beaten on the butt with a paddle, otherwise known as paddled, or be suspended after have been cheating on a test. She chose to be beaten so that her parents wouldn't find out about the incident. So her male vice principle beat her with a paddle until her butt was red, bruised and there were welts. Her mother was very upset and disturbed that a man was doing this, because she thought it would show to the younger boys that it was okay to hit women. Before this has happened, the policy was that a teacher was allowed to beat a child unless their parents had said otherwise. And apparently the vice principle was unaware of this policy. The mother and the vice principle apologized to the community because of how much of the media go involved. But the policy has only shifted a fraction. Now the parents have the choice on whether it happens or not, and if it is done then they can choice whether a male of a female. In my opinion, this whole situation didn't change a thing.

Schools in Session, For real This time.

Chicago Schools Strike.JPEGYesterday was the final straw for the  seven day strike that had been taken place in several schools in the Chicago area. Teachers decided that they couldn't solve every problem out there, and that it was time to go home. The issue with the contract that was proposed this year was that teachers were too closely tied to their students in a way that if a student was failing a lot or happened to drop out, the teacher would take the fall and had a huge possibility of being fired. And the outside factors of why a student was failing or dropping out would be ignored. Although the teachers were just trying to make things more fair, it inconvenienced hundreds of family's that need to find sitters for there children, or even take them to work with them. Though there were other schools that were open for shot periods of time for meals and activities, that still left the rest of the day for the children with nothing to do. With school starting again, many students, teachers and parents are ready to get their routines going and back on track after an extra week of summer.

US Ambassador to Libya is Killed.

Late last night the US Ambassador was killed, at first it wasn't very clear how because the security guards, who were stationed several miles away had very different stories about the events that took place. 3 other american's were also killed. It is suspected that it was a group of religious extremists. That same night there was a massive  man hunt to find who did this, it last all of the night and part of this morning. This whole attack has sent tensions rising in the Middle East, and chaos in Africa. President Obama announced that justice will be brought. It was also announced that security would increase in the US Consulate in Benghazi. The details are still not clear, no one knows for sure who it was, if the bodies were recovered and how they got pasr the heavy security.

8 Years Later, Found Guilty.

It took 8 years and one hour to finally convict Drew Peterson of the death of his 3rd wife. It took the Jury 2 days to come to a verdict of the death of his 3rd wife and he is also charged with the disappearance of his second wife. Peterson will face prison for up to 60 years, and his sentencing  will be held in November. Before the jury reached a verdict, they sent a note to the Judge asking what the meaning of the word "unanimous." The judge replied with a note explaining the meaning, and after only an hour of further discussion they game to a guilty conclusion. This was the first kind of a trial that Illinois has had, it was the first case where the juror's had nothing really to listen to and depend on other than hearsay. Hearsay is information told by a wittiness that is not based on the wittiness own knowledge. It may have been a "he said, she said" kind of a case, but thanks to Drew's Law, it's completely legal and mostly reliable. This was very necessary and he really just needed to go.
